As to different people, they hold distinct opinions on shopping. Some regard it as a torture while the others treat it as an entertainment. I’m never fond of shopping, but there are some exceptions in our life usually.
It was one month ago before the Christmas Day in 2009. As usual, our parents had to do some shopping for the preparation of this special day. But something different happened.
On Nov. 24th, 2009, mother woke us up and said to us:”Kids, how about playing an interesting game together?”
“What’s the game?”
“Christmas Day is coming quickly, it’s time to go shopping now!” Mom continued, “But this time, your daddy and I have made a decision to have a rest at home. It’s you who are going to do the shopping! I’ll give each of you $200, you three could have a comparison in this way: who is the one succeeding in buying the most appreciate products with least money. How do you three think about that? Quite interesting, isn’t it?”
Cheerfully, my brother, my sister and me said nothing negative to mom, and began to plan our shopping individually.
First of all, the decoration lights were indispensable for the Christmas tree. Maybe 20 dollars was OK. And I’d like to buy a lot of delicious food, fruits and drinks, which my parents usually only buy a few, never are sufficient to meet my demand. Then, I had to prepare some beautiful gifts for my parents and my brother, sister. Hardly forgot to buy a piece of gift for myself.
Money seems to be too little to afford all the things I prepared to buy. What should I do? Suddenly, a good idea come to my mind.
When my older sister was going to shopping, I run to her and said, “My dear sister, I used to hate shopping so much that I don’t know how to shopping to save money and do an effective shopping, can I go to the market with you?”
Without hesitation, she allowed me to go with her together. After a long time of selection, my sister finally went to the counter. At that time, I bought the expensive chocolate which I took from the shelf secretly to my sister and said, “Sister, I’m sorry I have forgotten to put this chocolate back, are you willing to pay for it?”
As soon as she glimpsed at the price, she shouted: “Impossible, how expensive it is! Wait for me here, I’ll put it back.”
Well, everything was with my control! I just expect you to leave for a minute. Immediately, I took another box of chocolate to the saleswoman, “My older sister will pay for all these things soon. The chocolate included.” Then I hid the chocolate before my sister appeared. How lucky! Sister was doubtful about so much money she had spent, but she didn’t care too much about that. Therefore, I was successful to take the chocolate, which I decided to send my sister as the gift, without any pence.
Similarly, I took a “free” watch for my brother with the same method.
At las, the game was coming to an end. Mom assembled us again. “Now, please show us what you have bought and how much you have spent.”
Both of my sister and brother spent almost all their money, though they really had bought the useful things we need on the Christmas. However, I thought, I would be the winner.
“Here are my achievement, and these are gifts for you! Additionally, this is the money left – 80 dollars!” Smiling, I said.
Everyone were surprised to my words, they were skeptical of the fact that I spent so little money on so many wonderful goods. But quickly, my sister and brother understood what had happened to them when they saw the gifts…
Needless to say, I won the game, though it was a little sly to value my behaviour to succeed. And my families were not angry with me at all, even my sister and brother just smiled with grievance. How interesting this shopping was!
